AGE: Baseball-playing 9- and 10-year-olds.  Age as of April 30, 2010 (8-year-olds see note at bottom)

IMPORTANT - EVALUATIONS: SBYBS National and American League teams are created using a draft system.  During the draft, in a series of selection rounds, players with equivalent evaluation scores are selected by coaches, one per team until all players are selected.  The goal of the draft is to ensure that each team has equal distribution of skill and ability and to balance the number of players per team.  Therefore, players MUST attend evaluations at UVM's Gutterson Field House on Sunday, March 14 at 3:15-5:45 p.m.  Players should wear sneakers, bring a glove, and attend the full session.  If a player cannot attend, parents must notify Donna Kaczmarek (859-0627) in advance.  Registration is closed once the evaluations occur.

DESCRIPTION: Players pitch all games, which typically go the full six innings.  Players are allowed to steal any base.  Skill level increases and strategy is now being introduced.  There is a tournament to end the season.

FIELDS: Dorset Park/Farrel Park/JC Park

GAMES/PRACTICES:Three times a week (Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat; days will vary); April weekdays 5:30-7:00 p.m.; Saturdays will vary.  Games end between 8 and 8:30 p.m.

MEET THE COACHES NIGHT: Tues., March 25; 6 p.m. @ SBHS Auditorium

LEAGUE COORDINATOR: Peter Yee (862-3232)

NOTE:  8-year-olds may register to "play up" in National League; however, in order to have the possibility of playing in the National League they must participate in the National League's evaluations.  Candidates will be selected based on evaluation scores and only if "player per team" numbers make it necessary.
